Description

The Segredos wines from Alexandre Relvas from Alentejo offer excellent quality for a competitive price. The latest addition to the series is the luxurious and seductive Grande Escolha.

Alexandre makes this beautiful red from mainly touriga franca, syrah and alicante bouschet; three grape varieties that do particularly well in the hot, southern Portuguese climate. The grapes grow in vineyards planted on clay and schist soils. They are harvested by hand.



After harvest, the grapes fermented in typical Portuguese lagares, or open vats. In Alexandre's modern cellar, these lagares are of course automated. In this way they ensure that the peels are continuously submerged, which extracts more color and structure from the peels. After fermentation, Alexandre ages the wine in oak barrels for twelve months.

The Grande Escolha has a wonderful, open scent of ripe red and black fruit, spices, a hint of vanilla and toast. It is velvety, ripe and spicy in taste with a long lasting aftertaste. A perfect red wine for roasted meat, game dishes or mature cheeses.
