Description
Winemakers and spouses Claudia and Bill Small not only know Marlbourgh like the back of their hand and have a great network there, but also know everything about grape growing and wine making. The two met at the University of Adelaide's Faculty of Wine and Wine, worked for a large wine company for many years in Marlborough and decided to join forces and start their own label in 2010.
Claudia and Bill run their business on a small and minimalist basis, renting part of a wine cellar and buying their grapes from some of the best independent grape growers with vineyards in the most beautiful parts of Marlborough, such as Awatere and the Wairau Valley. They then know how to of course, they are the best at translating that beautiful basic material into wonderful wines.
The Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is their signature wine. It is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc from various sub-regions and at different stages of maturity for a multi-dimensional aroma and taste impression. The Smalls ferment the grapes after harvest in stainless steel tanks and mature the wine briefly on the precipitated yeasts.
The result is a vibrant, modern Marlborough Sauvignon, with an expressive nose of gooseberry, kiwi and lime and an intense, lively and persistent flavour. It goes wonderfully with shellfish, but is also perfect as an aperitif. New to our range and already a favorite!
