Description
Smith & Sheth is not just any duo. Steve Smith is a celebrity in the New Zealand wine world: he is a vineyard owner, one of the few New Zealand Masters of Wine and was the founder of the famous Craggy Range wine estate. Texan Brian Sheth is an investor and conservationist.
What connects the two is an immense love for New Zealand and – you guessed it – wine. Both of their dreams were to make wines from the most beautiful terroirs in New Zealand. And so the impressive Cru series was created.
The duo harvests the grapes for the Sauvignon Blanc from old vines in Wairau, the Marlborough sub-region that is considered the historic heart of this famous wine region. The gravelly soils near Renwick provide wines with an intense and ripe character because they retain heat. Thanks to the mature age of the vineyard, yields are low and the grapes concentrated.
Once harvested at optimal ripeness, a simple vinification follows: the grapes are destemmed, crushed, gently pressed and fermented in 75% stainless steel tanks and 25% used large oak barrels. The result is a magnificent Sauvignon Blanc that is undoubtedly one of the best in New Zealand.
Drink with
Fragrant, fresh-dry white wine to drink as an aperitif or with light dishes. Great with salads with seafood, fried plaice with pea puree or soft (goat) cheeses.
Tasting note
Complex dry white wine with an expressive scent of lime, passion fruit, granny smith and elderflower. The taste is purely fruity, intensely juicy and layered with refreshing grapefruit acids in the long, refined aftertaste.
Shelf life
Now beautiful; shelf life for at least 7 years after harvest date.

What do we think?: |
Dit is een geweldige wijn, heerlijk fruitig en lekkerder en meer divers dan een gewone Marlboro
Deze moet je gedronken hebben
