Terre Nere Guardiola
Bright red wine with a fresh, refined aroma of red cherries, some flint and roasted notes. The taste is juicy and full, with a fresh undertone and spicy tannin in the aftertaste.
Nerello Mascalese
The Burgundy of the Mediterranean, is how owner Marco de Grazia characterizes his refined, mineral Sicilian wines, from slope vineyards on the northern flank of the Etna volcano. The altitude provides cooling and refinement to the wines.
The organic planting and the ambition to produce top quality force Marco to low yields so that the native grapes have a beautiful expression. Guardiola is the highest cru (up to 1,000 meters) with steep slopes, poor soil and narrow terraces.
The yield per vine is lower and the altitude and soil type produce a wine with more acid and tannin than lower plots. That is why Guardiola is the Terre Nere wine that can (and should) mature the longest. Guardiola also matured for sixteen months in small oak casks. Annual production is approximately 5,000 bottles.
