The refinement of Rioja and the power of Ribera del Duero |
Description
It's time! The first official joint bottling of the brothers David and Jonas Tofterup in our range. Earlier we introduced you to the beautiful, seductive Spanish wines of Bodegas Trenza, the domain of David Tofterup, in which his younger brother and first Danish Master of Wine Jonas is also closely involved. Making wine together has been a dream of the two for years and has been realized for the first time with this cuvée.
Of course it has not just become a Spanish red wine. The brothers selected more than forty-year-old tempranillo vines in the promising emerging wine region of Ribera del Júcar. Tempranillo is the specialty of this DO located in Cuenca and produces wines with beautiful concentration and soft tannin. The latter is partly due to the boulders in the vineyards, which provide extra heat in the vineyards.
For extra softness in the wine, the brothers destem the grapes prior to fermentation. Then they partially age the wine in used French oak barrels for six months. It gives a great Tempranillo, which is a cross between the refinement of Rioja and the power of Ribera del Duero. A must for those who want to enjoy the best of Spain without having to dig too deep into their pockets.
Drink at
Delicious, oak-aged red wine to enjoy solo or pair with a chickpea, spinach and mushroom casserole, baked chorizo with lentils or lasagna.
Tasting note
Deep ruby red wine with a refined scent of blackcurrant, cherry, plum, toast and pepper. Full and juicy with ripe fruit, supple tannins and a nice freshness. The finale is persistent with nuances of cocoa and hazelnut.
