Spain is not the first country we think of when we want to buy a Chardonnay. That's because Spain mainly specializes in good Verdejo, Viura and Albariño. Perhaps also a wise choice for the Spaniards to distinguish themselves. Nevertheless, many parts of Spain are extremely suitable for making a ripe, thick and creamy style of Chardonnay.


Almansa, for example, where high altitude and cool nights are combined with plenty of sunshine for perfect ripening. It is also dry, with usually a pleasant wind. These are ideal conditions for organic wine production.

The Dutchman Thomas Feenstra makes a fantastic organic Chardonnay in a New World style from the Finca la Carrasquilla. After several tasting sessions, we became so convinced of the quality that we decided to reserve a special selection of the best tanks and let them age for six months in a mix of 225 liter French and American oak barrels. The result is a rich, full-bodied white wine with beautiful wood aging notes. A direct hit!
