Tonel Cuarentha Reserva 2016

From the best vineyards and selected at cask level, the Tonel Cuarenta with its velvety taste and beautiful oak wood dosage is a wine like a small top producer. The indigenous Bobaldruif is dominant with a share of 60% and, in combination with the well-known tempranillo (25%), cabernet sauvignon (10%) and garnacha (5%), provides a nice balance between exciting freshness and smooth roundness. It is therefore wonderful to drink just like that. Recommended!

 

We know from experience that large-scale production provides average quality at best. With that knowledge we made our own selection at a large cooperative in Requena, Spain. Before winemaker Lourdes Nuevalos composes her different cuvées and is forced to mix the most beautiful barrels with lesser qualities, we tasted a large number of wines with her in the immense cellar with more than 6,500 (!) Barrels.

We only bought 40 and had them bottled exclusively for us. We paid the slightly higher price without discussion, because - given the high quality - it is still astonishingly low.
